JRC published a vision of a sustainable bioeconomy in 2050
The Joint Research Centre brought policy makers, primary producers, consumers and businesses together in a joint exercise to imagine the bioeconomy of the future. The recommendations that came from this exercise are now published.
The foresight exercise by JRC involved 100 experts from various fields and focused on developing forward-looking and strategic thinking about the European bioeconomy based on four alternative future scenarios. The results are summarised in the report “Exploring foresight scenarios for the EU bioeconomy”. The recommendations that are put forward in the report include the need to establish coherent policies, support regional and rural development, invest in education and awareness raising, promote sustainable lifestyles, and engage consumers in the decision-making process.
